When he was twelve, he became assistant photographer in one of the most important “pose rooms” of his city. Soon he will understand that his passion was beyond the love for photography and that every single shot could not be confined to a mere duplication of reality, an image devoid of its primary sense, that is the interpretation of what the eye of the artist captures. In light of these considerations Emilio, decided to invest in the pursuit of the highest professional level, attending various courses and seminars in several capitals in Europe, living the most significant experience in Germany where he lived a long period of his life to specialize in wedding and portrait photography.
He grows in the world of journalistic reportage, collaborating with the most prestigious newspapers, but the experience that will give him greater fame and prestige will be his twenty years of involvement in the film festival “Taormina Arte” and the “David di Donatello”.
Despite working with the most illustrious personalities from the world of film and entertainment, Emilio always maintains an attitude of humility and simplicity, which will accompany him throughout his life and affirm him as a true artist. He opened his first studio in 1965 and shortly afterwards he will be involved in some very important victories in the field of photography, such as the first prize for the photographers category in the national art contest “Colonnine d’oro” in 1973. His presence will often be requested among the members of the jury, in national photographic competitions.
In 1987 the work of Emilio has been enriched by the commitment of the sons Vincenzo and Paolo, who, thanks to the specialization courses attended, combined the genius of their father with the inventiveness and novelty in the field of photography and film, creating an always original and creative team within which the experience of the artist and the healthy curiosity of youth is mixed.
In 1995, reached the 30th year of activity, he opens the new Atelier in Viale Vittorio Veneto, Catania. In 2000 the last son, Danilo, joins the “Company”. He, thanks to the courses of graphics and editing attended, helped to increase the technology and the desire for novelty that has always distinguished the staff of Emilio Sicurella.
The naturalness of the moment, lived in the fullness of an instant, free from fake poses and artificial smiles is the philosophy of Emilio Sicurella, that with dedication and passion has been able to convey to his staff and thanks to which, despite its demise in 2007, has allowed his business, carried on by his sons, to grow from year to year and succeed today among the most prestigious in the industry.
