Born in Catania, January 1st 1944. His passion for photography emerge at a very young age and gets fueled by the biggest masters of those times.
At 12, he already becomes a photographer’s help in one of the most important “Sale da posa” (photo studio) of his own city.
He would soon find out that his passion for photography was beyond love and that every single shot taken could have not be conceived as a simple duplication of reality, and that’s why Emilio started pursuing higher creative and professional standards, by travelling all over Europe, to attend many seminars and classes, especially in Germany where he will live a long period of his own life to improve his skills in weddings and portrait photography.
He established himself in the world of journalistic reportage by working for the biggest newspaper but the most important task he’ll be assigned will be his 2 decades participation at the very famous movies festivals of “Taormina Arte” and “David di Donatello”.
Even though he had the chance to shoot numerous people of the show business, Emilio have always had a very simple and humble attitude throughout his life, making him an authentic person and artist. He opened is own first photographic studio in 1965 and he will soon start winning many awards, as the first prize at the national photography award “Colonnine D’oro” in 1973, where he will also be included as one of the jury’s member for the following editions.
In 1987, Vincenzo and Paolo will join their father and thanks to the workshops they have attended, they will perfectly fuse Emilio’s style with the freshest news and innovation in the field of cinema and photography generating a perfect mix of experience and curiosity.
1995 will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sicurella & Co. by opening the new Atelier of Viale Vittorio veneto, in Catania. 2000 will be the year where Danilo, Emilio’s younger son, will also join the team. His skills in graphic design and editing will help to contribute the team’s inclination to always pursue something new.
The nature of a moment lived in a fulfilling instant, free from poses and fake smiles is Emilio Sicurella’s philosophy and he was capable to transmit the same values with great dedication to his staff who, despite his loss in 2007, kept following his path, growing this establishment to one of the most prestigious firms in this field.
At the age of 15 years old, he already was the helper of an important french video maker, who initiate him to the ceremonial and fashion shooting. At 20 he attends classes at the Cinematography school of Rome and in Germany by a television reportage troupe.
His own creativity, the highly professional skills and his continuous interest in innovation, supported by his father’s experience in the photographic field, make Vincenzo one of the best ceremonial video makers at just the age of 25. His talent represent a fundamental resource of the Sicurella&Co. photographic atelier.
In 2012 he get the second place at the Wedding Movie Awards.
